Simple Suds...
While some of us have been given great advice for shampoo that helps thicken, soften & de-frizz, excessive shampooing can be damaging to the health of your hair and scalp. I have several clients say, "If i don't wash every morning my hair gets too oily". Unless you are training for a marathon, and sweating your life away everyday, you really should NOT be shampooing everyday. Over cleansing tells the scalp that its natural oils are being depleted. This is when you see oily heads, with dry hair. I am all about the hygiene, but hair we tend to drool over, usually comes from a culture where bathing is not an everyday remedy.Your natural oils that you create were meant to protect and provide BEAUTIFUL STRANDS!
Investing in dry shampoo will make this an easier transition (and may even offer needed volume). As a stylist, I recommend both powder and aerosol.-------> ORIBE, BUMBLE & BUMBLE, UNITE, KENRA and (you will rarely hear me say this) SUAVE all offer great products. It may take a couple of weeks to train your scalp, (perhaps a couple of hat days) but try to get out of the "EVERYDAY" washing routine. Every other day is a good shampooing trend to follow.Trust me, your locks will love you.
The SECRETS of your shampoo will come in later posts... Meanwhile, treat your hair to a salon style scalp massage with your lather. Yes, as stylists we want you to relax and enjoy your experience, but a GOOD scalp massage will
* Stimulate blood flow
* Nourish hair follicles
* Encourage skin cell renewal
*Promote healthy hair growth and shine

*Promote healthy hair growth and shine
Using your fingertips and thumbs, begin the massage at your forehead. Work in a circular motion, pressing the scalp beneath your fingers. Continue massaging, moving on to the crown. Finish at the back of your head.
*repeat :)
*repeat :)
Side note -If applying conditioner to the whole head, don't just lean back to let the water rinse it out, like so many of us do. Massage conditioner out as well to prevent "grease" by the end of the day.
